Q:  How often should I change water in my aquarium?

A:  Once per month should do it...about every 4 weeks.

Q:  When I change water, how much should I take out?

A:  Change out about 20% (1/5th) of the water in the tank at each changing.  (Approximately two inches from the top of your tank represents about 20%)

Q:  What temperature should my aquarium water be?

A:  Fresh water should be at least 74 - 78 degrees.  Salt water must be at a constant 78 degrees.

Q:  What are the causes of algae?

A:  Heat and light are the major culprits.  Having your tank lights on for more than 5 hours per day in a fresh water tank, or having your tank placed next to a bright window will cause algae to form faster.
